Indian Triumph
‘Indian
Triumph!’ This says it all.
Everything
was going on good and things seemed to be in control. It is said that you plan for
something but life has something else in store for you. That was the same case
with the aggressive Indian side. Favoring the Indian team for three days, the
fortunes changed hands in split of a second. The match that was supposed to be
in India’s hand had started slipping out. The Lankans could realize it and by
the time Indians could, the innings was wrapped up. Sri Lanka were 1-0 up in
the series. After this the aggression was questioned by the critics.
Being 1-0 down, it was
difficult to win the series, that too after a shocking loss. The Lankans were in
no mood of taking things lightly as they were in a plan of giving ‘Kumar
Sangakkara’ a sweet farewell. Now, it was time to hunt the lions. Indians
continued from where their fortunes had left them with the same enthusiasm and
aggression. The all-round effort of the Indian team spoiled Sanga’s farewell
plans and leveled the series 1-1.
It was the time for the
decider. The aggression was now visible on the face of each and every team
member. Chateshwar Pujara making a comeback carried his bat forward scoring
145*, he being only the second Indian to do it against Sri Lanka after Virender
Sehwag. The centre of attraction being Ishant Sharma. Sri Lanka was no doubt short
of experience as they had big boots to be filled in. Kushal Perera did just
that. The debutant notched up half centuries in both the innings. It was a
brilliant effort by both the teams. At the end of the day, better side wins and
this time it was India. The century knock of the Sri Lankan captain went in
vain. Even though Sri Lanka lost the series they won the hearts of the people.
Finally a win for the
Indian team on foreign soil after almost 3 years. The first series win for
India in Lanka after 22 years under the composed but aggressive captain Virat
Kohli. Hope India continue the winning streak on the foreign soil in the future
as well. Cheers India !
