$ocial $tatus-- A driving force for modern people !!
Twenty-first century, the
time where people are more bothered about the so-called ‘social status’ that
they forget the importance and value of their own lives. Everyone is so busy
trying to improve their social status using various media like social
networking websites, media networks etc. rather than trying to know the essence
of enjoying their lifetime.
Now-a-days, one is more
interested in knowing what others think about him instead of he himself
thinking about it. It is rightly said that ‘Most of the problems in this world
would not arise if people started talking to each other rather than talking
about each other.’ It’s a common feeling to find among people about the society
and status in the society. When we do a mistake we are more bothered about what
others will think about us after that and not try to think about where we went
wrong and how it can be rectified so that next time we are not stuck up with
the same problem again.
But that’s not the problem
of an individual but it’s the problem of the whole society around us. Everyone
will be there to support you when you are in a good position i.e. good
social-status and there will hardly be people who will back-off in criticizing
us when there is a drop in our success(rather call it a few bad days). At that time it's only the the self-motivation cultivated due to the efforts that one has put in to earn self-respect comes to the rescue.
It’s sometimes very
difficult to understand whether a person is more worried about his social
status or his self-respect. One earns his self-respect with great difficulty
after putting in a lot of efforts which automatically get him a good social
status. But what about its vice-verse? Having a good social status doesn’t
assure you your self-respect because self-respect is always earned whereas
social status is not. But the pity now-a-days is that the self respect is tried to be replaced by social status.
In the present scenario
people are given respect just based on their social status. But it’s worth
remembering that social status is temporary, i.e. it could be lost anytime,
whereas the self-respect helps you earn an unbounded respect from people in the
society.I would like to conclude by saying that the reason behind a person struggling with insecurity of his social status is that one compares his behind-the-scenes with everyone's highlight reels.
“No
one in this world will respect you if you don’t respect yourself.”
damn true :) (y)
