Passion: It has a slight edge more than love for something
'Love for a particular thing', is the first thought that strikes most of our minds when we come across the
word ‘passion’ in our daily lives. But, is the word passion restricted to only the feeling of love? Well, let's look into a few more words that gives us an insight into the word passion.
Hate, Enthusiasm, Anger, Desire etc. are also in some way or the other related to passion. It could be a strong desire to achieve something or enthusiasm for a much awaited moment or a strong feeling of hatred towards anything. All of these have a close tendency to match up and compete against the word 'love', when it comes to understanding passion, but love always wins. Let's start with how the feeling of hatred challenges love to define passion.
"I either eat too much or starve myself. Sleep for 14 hours or have insomniac nights. Fall in love very hard or hate passionately. I don’t know what grey is. I never did."
Next we have the feelings of anger, enthusiasm and desire pulling their socks up to dominate the feeling of love in their urge of defining passion. I sometimes feel that passion and anger go hand in hand or may be they could be two different sides of the same coin. If we allow ourselves to feel the anger – free of resisting it and free of being seduced by its power – then we'll be able to transcend the anger and unleash our passion. In short, anger is the shadow of passion.
According to Robert Kiosaki(Author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad) :
Passion=Love+Anger
Enthusiasm is more about excitement of doing what we love and expecting the best results possible, whereas desire is the root cause for all the emotions that lead us to defining the word passion.
So, to conclude, passion is the perfect blend of love, hate, anger and desire. Stir these feelings thoroughly so that it makes up a perfect stew to chase your dreams by following your passion.
"Love what you do and do what you love. Don't listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life."
-Ray Bradbury
