A Night Journey!
It was just a matter of time. The birds seemed to be desperate to reach their destination and so did we. In the meanwhile, the dim twilight started fading and it was dull and gloomy around in a short span of time. Our destination was almost 130 kilometers away. The traffic and unknown roads made sure it took us at least five hours to reach our destination.
As
time passed, all of us started feeling drowsy, as there was darkness all around and nothing interesting to watch out for.
All the cell phones had drained their batteries and the only source of light we
had was the one coming from the vehicles passing by. Most of us fell asleep as
our destination was still too far.
As
the time progressed there seemed to be increased silence as well. The only
sound that could be heard was of our car. The increased silence in the
surroundings, for a moment, scared us.
We had no clue of the type of road that was ahead of us and it gave an
impression that it was seldom preferred for travel. Then, there was this diversion…..
Just
like, a decision that changes our life, this diversion had something really
cool in store for us. It took us a great deal of keen observation to realize
that there was something colorful in the dull night journey. The road then started getting curved and wavy. It is rightly said that “everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.”
When
we were at the troughs of the wavy roads, if there were vehicles coming from
both the directions i.e. front and behind, it appeared as if there were two
suns that were rising. We could feel the essence of the drawings done by us
during our childhood (the ones with mountains and sun rising from behind them).
The light coming from the headlights of the vehicles was just like the ray of
hope which shatters all the ignorance that is in the form of darkness in an
individual’s life.
Being
on the crests i.e. top of the wave, we could see many lights approaching us but
that was just for a short span of time. Life isn’t just about the positives
that keep coming. We can’t expect everything that we hope for, in the way we
want it. It’s good to be positive and have hope but everything has a limit. If
everything turns out to be good, there’s nothing wrong if you have hope and if
it turns out to be an expectation but that doesn’t yield a good outcome if we
start thinking of every hope as an expectation.
Overall
it was night journey worth remembering. It was packed with a bunch of new experiences and a
few unseen scenic beauties. The recollected childhood memories added
glitters to the night journey, just like stars add glitters to the night sky
in the presence of cool and composed moon that spreads light in dull and dark night sky.
"If you have not clung to a broken piece of your old ship in the dark night of the soul, your faith may not have the sustaining power to carry through to the end of the journey!"
