Sankranti - A festival of kites and also a harvest season
“Sankranti”,
the festival of kites and also a harvest season for most in the field of
agriculture. It’s been 14 days since January'16 has kick-started and we keep
hearing about various international kite festivals happening all around.
Looking at the kites soaring up high in the sky, a question struck my mind. Is Sankranti, merely a festival to enjoy
i.e. either by flying kite and reaping the crop or do we have something that
could be looked into in order to get a lesson for life?
At
first I had taken it lightly but yeah a little later I felt like giving it a
thought and then on I keenly started observing the behaviour of the kites and
to my surprise I could relate it to the human nature.
Just
like an individual requires a head-start (self or others) to push him/herself
to take up the initial step, even a kite requires a breeze to start its flight.
On the other hand breeze turning into wild wind is also a problem for the
take-off of the kite and so is the over-confidence due to a good start.
There
are a few more things that were worthy to be noted. Every kite is unique and so
are the people. There are a few kites that are really difficult to handle and a
few which are really much disciplined in their flight and so are their life
spans while flying in the sky. The good kite lasts long whereas the former
could be given up on anytime as it is more prone to failure. This could be
related to the stress or problem management in an individual. Some give up and
some handle them with utmost care and see them through.
All
the kites flying together in the sky is a “Bravo!!”
moment and so is the unity of people. The thread used to fly the kites act as
means for the kites to interact to each other by helping them come close, just
like the communication in humans. The moment the thread is cut the kite becomes
independent and flies off to an unknown place and so does happen to people as
well. As the communication is cut down, individual starts feeling neglected and
isolates oneself from others to a dark world.
So
let’s hope each and everyone in this world sows the seeds of happiness, reduces
their sorrows and reaps a colourful life.
“HAPPY SANKRANTI!!”
